Dear Students, Parents & Instructors,

As previously discussed, we have been monitoring the developments in regards to COVID-19 very carefully, and in view of the rapid increase in case numbers we feel that it is our responsibility to temporarily suspend all indoor classes.

Our team has been working tirelessly on an alternative class structure, and we are excited to let you know that as of TOMORROW, Monday 23rd of March, Karate Bondi will be operating on a new timetable. (Please note that our Saturday OUTDOOR SESSIONS had to be cancelled until further notice due to the government’s restrictions on group gatherings.

ONLINE VIDEO CONTENT

We will be starting to upload Video Classes with various focuses (including Basics, Kata, Fighting Combinations and Functional Strength) to the “members” area on our website. Please select “trainingvideos” under the menu item “members”, or click on http://www.karatebondi.com/trainingvideos to access these clips directly (password: “karatenorthbondi”). Please stay tuned while our instructors are putting together some exciting sessions for you.

LIVE STREAMING of all our Mon – Thu classes at normal times (please note slightly shorter sessions of all adults classes)

  • Mon & Wed: KIDS 4.15 – 5.00 pm (5 – 7 yrs), 5.00 – 6.00 pm (8 – 12 yrs)

  • Tue & Thu: KIDS ADVANCED 4.00 – 5.00 pm, TEENS 6.00 – 7.00 pm

  • Mon: ADULTS NOVICE 6.30 – 7.30 pm

  • Tue: ADULTS ADVANCED 7.00 – 8.00 pm

  • Thu: ADULTS GENERAL 7.00 – 8.00 pm

We hope our streaming will give us all a chance to collectively train and let you feel like you are in the dojo. This is obviously being rolled out much faster than we would have anticipated, so please bear with us over the first few days until we have sorted out the teething problems.

A FEW THINGS ABOUT LIVE STREAMING:

  • We use Zoom software – You will need to download it on your phone or computer (it will only take a couple of minutes) and set up your (free) Zoom account. The first time you join a class, give yourself a couple of extra minutes to get everything going.

  • We will be using it in the "webinar" style format - Your camera or microphone will NOT be broadcast to others.

  • The image quality is livestream - not fancy but it does the job.

  • On the day of your class, you will receive a link to join your class by email. Simply click this link a couple of minutes prior to start of your class to “join” your training buddies!

  • Please make sure you send us pics of you training at home – We would love to share them with our North Bondi Dojo Family via our social media platforms

Tips for training at home:

  • Find a suitable space in your home where you will be undisturbed for the duration of your class. Most surfaces such as floorboards or carpet are suitable. Ideally, you have enough space to take four big steps to the front and the back and a couple of steps to either side.

  • Hydrate well and get in the right headspace - Put on your Dogi & tie your belt!!

  • If you have any questions regarding the syllabus covered on any particular day, please email or text them to me. We will go through all questions received in a brief Q&A at the start of each class.

In these increasingly uncertain times, it is more important than ever to keep a cool and calm mental headspace. Karate offers the chance to build physical endurance and mental strength which will benefit us enormously through the coming months. We can't control the world around us, but we can work on how we deal with it.

Thank you to everyone for your incredible support. We ask that you stand by us and we will do everything in our power to provide you with ongoing Kyokushin Karate tuition in whatever medium we can.

OSU!
