International Online Kata Championships 2021

There were approximately 600 competitors from around the world, divided into 14 separate categories;
The tournament was dominated by the Japanese competitors (who have had the opportunity of learning the changes to the various katas first-hand, and not remotely) - in total, of the 84 finalists, 74 were from Japan!
In each of the 14 categories, the 6 top competitors have moved through to the finals;
In the women's 35 – 49 years category the average score of the six finalists was 22.1 (ranging from the highest score of 22.4 to the lowest score of 21.8). Sensei Alex Karnasopoulos scored 21.4 – only 0.4 short of making the finals;
In the men’s 35 – 49 years category the average score of the six finalists was 21.7 (ranging from the highest score of 22.2 to the lowest score of 21.4). Sensei John Barker scored 21.1 – only 0.3 short of making the finals;
In the men's 15 – 34 years category the average score of the six finalists was 22.7 (ranging from the highest score of 23.3 to the lowest score of 22.2). Sempai Nathan Lotter scored 22.1 – coming 7th in the world and missing the finals but only 0.1 points!
The average score for our 8 competitors was about 21.2 – a very impressive average.
